Holistically she is in a good spot imo, I personally love playing her. Yareli is a jack of all trades weapon frame meaning that she loses out on the instant approval of most players because she doesn’t just one shot everything by existing nor does she do any particular job particularly better than any other frame. Honestly people who claim she’s bad or useless are massively over stating things. As a bit of an aside, the easiest way to get around kdrive movement being your problem on her is to just not sprint, if you still can’t control merulina maybe the frame isn’t for you. I understand people not liking merulina based on the fact that she’s a kdrive and there’s not much to be done about that. She has decent cc and survivability while massively buffing pistols. Along the same lines as Yareli, Nekros is mainly a weapons platform with a spooky theme.Īs someone who has played her a lot I can say past saying kdrives are annoying there isn’t much reason to dislike her any more than any other weapon frame. He still sees plenty of usage as an all-important lootbot, but he's a far cry from engaging. It doesn't actually affect his gameplay, and could reasonably be supplanted by other energy options. Despoil, for the record, is also basically just a super efficiency mod in practice. There's basically no reason to cast his 1 or his 2, 3 is toggled on and then forgotten about, and 4 offers some tankiness/meatshields at best with the augment. His kit is definitely showing it's age compared to many of the more recent additions to the roster. It's really not an unreasonable expectation that each warframe be engaging and effective at baseline, with augments available to add buffs or alternate playstyles on top of that.įor Nekros, I'd argue that from a gameplay perspective, he is in fact pretty poorly designed. Mind control, forĮxample, has twice now been buffed to add a higher damage bonus to your target. And in fact there are a number of augments that effectively serve only as QoL improvements, or otherwise could be rolled into base functionality without causing any issues. They're often called "bandaids" for a reason you don't put one on unless something is broken. Having the ability to use k-drive mods would really make the whole kit shine more.Īugments have never released alongside their frames, which kind of throws the idea of them serving a core balancing function for a frame out the window. If I have any gripes about her, it's that Merulina should have the capacity to mod up just like an exalted weapon or companion. If you use her more like a tank that can run over enemies and cripple/CC them, her lack of mobility on tight tilesets becomes a bit more of an asset - corridor clearing is a breeze, and simply charging through a group will cover them with slash procs before they can fire back. On top of that, you've got solid CC with her 1 and her 4 can do some real damage if properly targeted. Add a crit focused kit-gun (I like the Gaze) and you've got a turret for your hovertank, and your side to side movement becomes brutal with a beam weapon. This means side to side movement is better than fast rushes. Slap your Aquablades on and everything within 10 meters dies within 3 seconds. Seriously - 15k hp before Yareli gets touched. I think a lot of the problem with how folks try to play her is that they're thinking they're still riding a k-drive, and they're attempting to maneuver the same way. When choosing a contour shade, try to use a bronzer, foundation or concealer that is a shade darker than your skin tone. Blending, highlighting and contouring will give you the most natural look possible. The highlighter is applied to the areas you want to bring attention to and contour is applied to the spots you want to lessen the focus on. Contouring is a deepening of the skin to create a shadow and bring out what is next to it, so it is generally applied alongside highlighting techniques. This week, we're teaching you how to contour for any face shape which will work well with last week's lesson on how to apply highlighter. Ants and roaches got into the supposedly sealed habitat. Crop failures led to food shortages, which led to hangriness and weight loss. In the Biosphere, people struggled to climb stairs and to stay asleep without apnea waking them up. Bacteria in the soil sucked up the air and produced carbon dioxide, leaving the participants with oxygen levels similar to those at the top of a 14,000-foot peak-what people in my home state of Colorado call “a fourteener” and love to post pictures of themselves summiting. More than 30 years ago, this setup didn’t quite work for the Biospherians: they couldn’t get enough calories or oxygen from what the structure had to offer. It feels simultaneously like being in a very large municipal botanical garden and a small-town aquarium. On my first night I decide to take a walk around inside before the conference starts. Trees reach toward visitors, and water shimmers just beyond reach. Inside are miniature ecosystems-ocean, mangrove wetlands, tropical rainforest, savanna grassland and fog desert. It looks like it does, in fact, belong on another planet. Behind that is a white bubble that resembles an indoor tennis court. Jutting perpendicular from the structure are greenhouse-shaped domes, in front of which is a Taj Mahal–like entryway. That geography is part of why the actual Biosphere 2 building looks so striking: Two ziggurats made of tessellated glass triangles are connected by a long, glass rectangular structure. The land around Biosphere 2 could be described the same way Buzz Aldrin talked about the moon: “magnificent desolation.” Cacti spike the ground, and behind the facility, the Santa Catalina mountains rise, rocky and Martian-like, more than 9,000 feet into the air. Along the smaller road in, ads encourage drivers to purchase custom home sites-right there, with Biosphere 2 as their new neighbor. On the small highway leading toward the facility, a big green sign like one you’d see at an interstate exit points the way. But the site feels slightly less removed from society than an exercise in living on a distant planet or isolated spacecraft should. The project was launched with a high-profile publicity campaign. Magnificent Desolationīiosphere 2-Earth being Biosphere 1, the original-was never a secret. Cynic, realist, whatever: when I stood around chatting with my free drink, surrounded by optimism, I harbored some reservations about the usefulness of analog astronautics and the motivations of the participants. The group felt very grouplike, and the mood was idealistic-as in “We are a family whose earthly explorations will enable a better and inevitable future in space.” Rightly or wrongly, I don’t tend to be a joiner, and I’m skeptical of human space exploration’s scientific value and long-term likelihood. Participants were united in their desire to advance space travel while remaining stuck on Earth and to make Earth more functional in the meantime.Īt the opening reception, I felt separate from my cohort and doubtful of the enterprise. The occasion for this particular four-day meetup was the Analog Astronaut Conference, an annual gathering to share results, plans and experiences in simulated space research. Today it is used for research related to climate change, biodiversity and sustainability. Located northwest of Tucson, Ariz., it hasn’t been used for its original, sealed, astronautic purpose since 1994. Last month I gathered with those who’ve participated in such experiments at Biosphere 2, which today is operated by the University of Arizona. Researchers study the systems that sustain the facilities, the procedures and instruments the participants use, and their psychology and biology-the scientific versions of “Can they do it? How will they react?” They venture outside only in a spacesuit, if at all, and interact with no one but their crewmates. For weeks or months, small crews get locked inside a habitat, capsule or settlement to simulate a space mission. The idea of applying my efforts to space research rather than individual satisfaction was appealing.Ī lot of people must feel similarly because today the globe is dotted with such analog facilities. Usually for me that involves tackling some pointless, agonizingly long trail-running trial. I love a “Can I actually do it? How will I react?” challenge. It was an early “ analog astronaut” experiment: a study that asks people on this planet to pretend to be spacefarers. The goal was to study how people and ecosystems survived in the sequestered, self-supporting habitat and to demonstrate the viability of a similar setup for future space travel. They would stay for two years in the enclosed facility in the Sonoran Desert, which was home to five different ecosystems. In 1991 eight people in Arizona entered a strange contraption: a 3.14-acre glass house called Biosphere 2. If anyone has managed to resolve this problem, post your solution in the comments. Part of me wants to waste more money on an accutrooper or an elite alpha trooper if I can find one in good nick before I start spending money on nerf mod kits but it's all down to what I find and when realistically. The Phoenix is a small battery-operated semi-automatic flywheel blaster, similar to blasters such as the Stryfe. I've picked up 2 stryfe's 2 rapidstrikes a longstrike (Whiteout edition) a crossbolt and a slingfire I also picked up some partially modded stuff with the whiteout longstrike but it was still cheaper overall than buying anywhere else and I got a bunch of bonus mags etc which is nice. I've picked up one of the nerf chronobarrels so I can get a rough idea of the FPS it wont be perfect but I didn't want to spend the money for a proper chrony just yet and it was a much cheaper solution. I've also picked up some other stuff that I plan to mod down the line but no further updates on the longshot really till next pay probably. Yea the spring arrived which is a nice start even if it's not quite as powerful as it's supposed to be it should be better than stock I might rig something up to test what I can get out of it.Īt least it could be useful as a test spring to make sure the reinforcements are decent enough before I get the full spring load in it. I have some idea's for shell reinforcement so if they work out as well or better than intended then I might proceed to move it over to an old school one. I'm hoping it being brand new will be the best platform to use to avoid damage from a preowned one causing issues with the heavy strain on the shell or general plastic decay of an old school Longshot. If things don't work with this one due to some weird incompatibility with mods (So far as I'm aware most if not all internals should be interchangeable) or I don't like the new one so much I can always get a second hand Longshot.
“It really is a good sign of the sense of community that’s grown up among the theatre groups in Middle Georgia,” Haynie said. If there were differences in the past, artistic or otherwise, both Crisp and Haynie are certain there’s no place for them in the present. If there’s value in Crisp’s returning to MLT, aside from the value of simply putting on a good show, it may be found in that word community. Through the years, Crisp has won recognition for the plays he has staged and for fostering the arts in Macon. It’s uplifting and full of love.”Ĭrisp steered Theatre Macon until his retirement in 2018 when the artistic director role was handed to Richard Frazier. Despite its unique circumstances, the story of Hellen Keller and her teacher and lifelong companion, Anne Sullivan, is a universal one of overcoming challenges. “We chose ‘Miracle Worker’ intentionally because it’s about the importance of finding the way to community and living in awareness and love. “It was a tough play to do but we had a marvelous cast and Hellen Keller was played brilliantly by 7-year-old Amanda Hutchinson,” Crisp said. The first show Theatre Macon staged was the somewhat challenging “The Miracle Worker,” the story of young Helen Keller who lost her sight and hearing at 19 months old. “The first play I directed was in celebration of the theater’s history and was a repeat of the first play they’d ever performed, Noel Coward’s ‘Hay Fever.’”īut Crisp’s stay at MLT only lasted just over three years: he was fired from the theatre group in early 1986 over “artistic differences.” But instead of leaving town for new opportunities, Crisp and a handful of others created a new opportunity right here by forming another community theatre group: Theatre Macon. “I moved to Macon to work with Macon Little Theatre in 1982, quite a wonderful year for them as they were celebrating their 50th anniversary,” Crisp said. Though it’s been quite a stretch since Crisp last directed at MLT, it was MLT that brought a young Crisp to Macon in the first place. “Jim has more than 300 shows under his belt as a director so it’s the perfect show and also the perfect time to bring him back to Macon Little Theatre.” “Neil Simon was certainly one of the greatest playwrights and ‘Lost in Yonkers’ is a great, award-winning show so it’s a perfect match for Jim and his experience,” said JP Haynie, artistic director at MLT. Today, he returns to MLT as guest director of Neil Simon’s Pulitzer Prize-winning “Lost in Yonkers” which runs through April 9. directed a play for the Macon Little Theatre stage. She said together in “The Secret Garden,” cast and audience travel through a story that’s very much about sorrow and grief but comes to a place of healing and redemption. It’s been 37 years since Jim Crisp Jr. Haynie said “The Secret Garden” has a relatively small cast for a musical but features four performers new to the MLT stage. I also think it’s also magical for young people to see her, someone their size and age, and realize what they might do themselves. It’s wonderful seeing someone her age mature on stage. She does a marvelous job and our audiences will remember her playing Annie and being just magnetic on stage. Then there’s Abigail Watson, who plays young Mary. “DeAnna is a voice major at Wesleyan College. “That includes DeAnna Laree, who plays the young adult female lead in the play, Lilly, the ghost who helps Mary find her way into the secret garden,” she said. “There’s tremendously beautiful music that’s quite demanding of singers, but we have some great singers and phenomenal soloists.” “I think it features powerful, emotional acting and a beautiful, lush score,” Haynie said.
